Founded in 2020 as an ETH Zurich spin-off, Alivion turns advances in chemical sensing into reliable, application-specific measurement systems. Today, our interdisciplinary team develops and integrates SmartSelect™ for industrial and health-related partners that need high-quality chemical measurements beyond the laboratory.

Team

Chief Executive Officer
Leads Alivion’s strategy, sales and marketing, industry partnerships and day-to-day operations. He brings more than 25 years of B2B leadership experience, including in the MedTech sector.

Co-Founder & Chief Technology Officer
Co-founded Alivion and leads the development of the SmartSelect™ technology platform. His expertise spans sensors and electronics, AI and cloud solutions, and material science—translating research into robust sensing systems for real-world applications.

Business Development
Drives partnerships and venture development for Alivion. She brings first-hand entrepreneurial experience from founding a biotech company, complemented by dedicated training in entrepreneurship and venture building.

Lead Software Engineering
Leads software engineering at Alivion, from embedded sensor software and data processing to the applications that turn measurements into usable results. His background spans sensors and electronics as well as multidisciplinary product development.

Lead Hardware Engineering
Leads hardware engineering at Alivion, developing and validating sensor systems for internal development and partner projects. His hands-on experience spans prototyping, system integration, validation and technical support.

Intern
Supports business development and market analysis. She has a background in biomedical engineering.
Governance
The Board combines founder continuity with experience in commercialization, entrepreneurship, investment and scaling international technology businesses.

Chair of the Board & Co-Founder
Connects Alivion’s scientific foundation and technology strategy with its long-term development. As Chair and co-founder, he provides continuity between the company’s core technology, commercial direction and governance.

Board Member
Brings more than 25 years of strategic and operational leadership experience, including senior roles at Roche and Abbott. He supports Alivion on go-to-market strategy, industry partnerships, commercial due diligence and value creation.

Board Member
Combines entrepreneurial experience with the perspective of an early-stage investor. He supports Alivion on financing, company development and the creation of sustainable long-term value.

Board Member
Brings extensive leadership experience from global technology and analytical-instrumentation companies, including Mettler Toledo, Bruker BioSpin and Comet Group. He supports Alivion on innovation management, commercial scaling and building market-oriented organizations.
Scientific Advisor

Co-Founder & Scientific Advisor
Co-founded Alivion based on sensing technology developed at ETH Zurich and continues to advise the company on chemical sensing, materials and scientific strategy. He is Assistant Professor at ETH Zurich and leads the Human-centered Sensing Laboratory.
