Our Story


Alivion, founded in 2020 as a spin-off from ETH Zurich, combines scientific excellence with everyday practicality. Our Alivion SmartSelect™ technology, developed over 15 years at ETH, enables precise, real-time substance analysis anywhere.


Our portable monitoring solutions serve key sectors such as health, nutrition, and environmental safety. By measuring breath biomarkers, we empower individuals to follow healthier lifestyles and gain a deeper understanding of their nutritional needs – for improved well-being and higher quality of life.

Christian Zwicky

CEO

Christian Zwicky has over 25 years of experience in the HealthTech and MedTech industries. He specializes in breath analysis, Big Data, AI, Sales & Marketing and leadership, driving the creation of innovative lifestyle products in the fields of obesity, longevity, and sports.

Nina Mörgeli

Product Engineer

Nina Mörgeli has broad expertise in biomedical engineering and experience at the intersection of electrical engineering and health technologies, gained at hemotune. She earned her master's degree in Biomedical Engineering from ETH Zurich.


Dr. Jan van den Broek

CTO

Jan van den Broek combines expertise in nanotechnology and engineering with over 7 year experience in sensor development and scale-up. He earned his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from ETH Zurich and was awarded the ETH Silver Medal for his outstanding thesis.

Christoph Heini

COO

Christoph Heini has more than 16 years of industry experience. Prior to Alivion, he held leading positions at Stadler Rail in order processing and marketing & sales, where he acquired extensive expertise in product and business development as well as sustainability management.

Dr. Julia Isenring

Business Development

Julia Isenring has over 6 years of research experience in Health Sciences and Technology. She possesses comprehensive knowledge of the interplay between nutrition, exercise, and health, along with experience in translating scientific technologies into practical applications.

Sebastian Keller

Produktmanager

Sebastian Keller has extensive experience in sensor material design, device integration, filter engineering, and signal analysis. He is also skilled in regulatory and quality control processes, gained during his tenure at Thoratec.



Giorgio Di Loro

Product Engineer

Giorgio Di Loro has experience in electronics design and development, including hardware, PCB design, firmware, and software. His research background in sensors and measurement instruments bridges the gap between electronics and sensing technologies.

Ilari Dammert

Business Development

Ilari Dammert is a product and innovation expert with over 15 years of experience, focusing on customer-centric value creation. With a Master's in Digital Transformation, he drives successful business outcomes through cross-functional leadership and innovation-driven thinking.
